You can, of course, apply without the Attendance Allowance, but if you are receiving this, it gives you more evidence to support your application.

Our fee for this service is £99.00

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Who can get Attendance Allowance?

Attendance Allowance is for people who are State Pension age or over and need help or supervision because of a long‑term health condition.  It doesn’t matter how much money you have, income and savings do not affect eligibility.

How much could I receive?

Attendance Allowance is worth up to £5,959 per year, paid every four weeks. The exact amount depends on your daily and night‑time needs.

Do I need a diagnosis to apply?

No. What matters is how your health affects your daily life.  Often, as we age, our physical and mental health deteriorates and this can be enough to meet the criteria.

Do I need a carer?

No.  You can receive Attendance Allowance even if you live alone and have no carer.  Attendance Allowance is awarded on the support you need, not on the support you currently receive.  This can be as simple as needing to physically support yourself moving around or needing help to understand complicated documents or not being able to take part in your hobbies.

What happens during the free eligibility call?

We clarify the DWP criteria, talk through your daily needs, health conditions and safety concerns.  It’s calm, friendly and takes around 10–15 minutes.  This helps us understand whether Attendance Allowance is right for you.

What happens at the home visit?

It can take up to two hours to thoroughly complete the form to ensure you have the best opportunity of being successful in your application.

We will arrange an appointment at a time of day that is most convenient for you.

We will complete the online form, giving the answers that you provide in clear language that best explains your circumstances.

You will need to have your National Insurance available.

You will need to have a list of any medical conditions you may have and details of the medication that you are taking, ie what is is for, what the dosage is and how often you take it.

Does AAA Local keep a copy of my application?

No, the online form is not available to download or copy, thereby protecting your personal information.

What happens after submission?

The DWP will write to you within 12 weeks of submission to inform you of their decision.

AAA Local does not have any influence over these timescales or the DWP's decision.

On occasions, the DWP may require additional information.  With your permission, your Attendance Allowance Assistant will handle these queries as part of our service to help keep the process simple and stress‑free.

Can you influence the DWP’s decision?

No.  Only the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) can decide whether you receive Attendance Allowance. AAA Local has no influence over the decision.  We simply help you present your information clearly and correctly.

How do I get paid?

If you are successful and receive an award, you will receive between £114.60 per week or £76.70 per week which is paid 4 weekly, directly to the bank account where you receive your pension.  AAA Local does not require your bank details to complete the form.

What do I need to use the money for?

If you are successful and receive an award, it is entirely up to you what you use it for.  There are no conditions attached to the payment.

How much does your service cost?

Our Attendance Allowance service costs £299, payable only if your claim is awarded.  There is no upfront fee.

Blue Badge applications cost £99, available once you receive your AA award letter, plus the additional administration fee charged by your local Council, which is usually £10.

Do you cover my area?

AAA Local currently supports older adults in their home across Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire.  If you are not in these areas, we may be able to offer you a telephone service.  Please contact us for more information.

Do you need to speak to my GP?

No.  Most applications do not require GP involvement.  If the DWP needs medical information, they contact your GP directly.

Can a family member be present?

Yes - we welcome you to invite a family member or close friend to join the home visit if you’d like support.

Can I cancel?

You have the right to cancel your agreement within 14 days of signing.

If you ask me to provide the service before the end of the 14-day cancellation period, I will begin work on your application at the agreed appointment.

Once the application has been completed and submitted to the DWP, the service will have been fully performed and your right to cancel will end.
